The good: The hotel was fine overall, comfy beds, a decent breakfast, and a delicious food cart right next door. When our first room smelled like an ashtray, the staff promptly moved us to another room, which we appreciated. The bad (really bad): There was a planned power outage that we were never informed about. This left us in the dark and without AC for most of the evening and night. After voicing our frustration, our stay was only minimally discounted. Unfortunately, this experience put a huge damper on our vacation.

Very nice lady at the front desk. She gave me restaurant recommendations and showed me a menu from the one she highly recommended. The room was very nice, clean and overlooked the pool area. Great place to stay. I can’t say much for the town though—quite run down!

My family stayed here recently and can’t say much good. When we arrived their was a homeless man walking around the parking lot and the next morning he was sleeping by the vending machines. We had ants in our room and bathroom. The room was clean however. The pancake machine didn’t Watkins and the Orange juice was watered down. This is an older motel that should not be a “plus” since it has outside corridors. This was one of the more expensive motels in town. Ye not up to par.

My only issue was checking in- the office was closed at 7:20pm, had to wait 20 minutes for someone to arrive. Normally this wouldn’t be that much of an issue, but after traveling all day, and having a reservation, I was really annoyed. Room was clean, staff was friendly (once they arrived). Hot tub was closed which was a little annoying as well. Ok overall, not great.

There is an open-air Head Banger club across the street that goes to 1:30 in the morning. Constant heavy bass sounds were very disruptive to sleep. Except for one Mexican restaurant, it's pretty much a ghost town now. Sorry I did not drive the extra hour to another location.

We stayed in Garberville because it’s the closest town to The Avenue of the Giants. I don’t think there are many options in this town, let alone in early May when we stayed there. I think for the options available, it was good, but a bit pricey (we paid over $300 per night) given the fact that the balconies on the third floor seem like they are not structurally sound and the pool was closed when we were there. The room was really musty, but clean.
